Desperados iii ps4 review8/3/2023 ![]() My progress through each Desperados 3 mission demanded more frequent reloading than a single-shot rifle, as I continued to repeatedly botch each enemy encounter until I could come up with an effective plan to attack the guards at the right time, in the right order, using the most appropriate abilities of my team. Despite being a game about cowboys, Desperados 3 is not so much about being quick on the draw as it is about being quick on the quicksave, and it’s self-aware of its reliance on this system to the point that an obnoxious quicksave reminder prompt appears in the middle of the screen should you forget to register your progress for longer than a minute. That leads to heck of a lot of trial and error should you wish to make your way through each mission without alerting the guards and having them call in reinforcements. Since every guard is dutifully watching another guard’s back, you’ll almost always be caught in the act if you simply sneak up to stab a lookout from behind. Plotting and executing a synchronised attack from all angles so that multiple enemies are taken out and disposed of to clear an area of threats in one fell swoop without raising an alarm is consistently satisfying to perform.ĭesperados 3’s automated assaults don’t make life too easy, though, because pulling off such graceful cowboy-killing choreography still requires a lot of rehearsals. Desperados 3 improves on that concept with some welcome extra features such as the ability to chain together a series of moves, like killing an enemy and then carrying and concealing their body, all in one action. It’s a slight shame she doesn’t actually join Cooper’s crew until roughly midway through the campaign, but when she does she reinvigorates the possibilities from then on out.Īll of the action plays out in real-time (this is not an XCOM-style game) but like developer Mimimi Games’ previous stealth-’em-up, 2016’s Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, it features the ability to pause the action and plot out a sequence of moves for your squad before executing them all at once to make complex simultaneous action possible. ![]() Tethering baddies together in this way leads to some truly inspired solutions for thinning out the enemy numbers, and I felt that Desperados 3 was really at its most flexible anytime Isabelle was placed by the story into my stealth squad of between one and five characters. This voodoo priestess provides a supernatural spin on the otherwise fairly traditional stealth mechanics, largely by means of her ability to fire a blow dart into two enemies to link them together as a pair of walking voodoo dolls, whereby whatever fate befalls one is simultaneously inflicted upon the other. Isabelle provides a supernatural spin on the otherwise fairly traditional stealth mechanics. Each character is consistently useful but by far the most valuable slayer in Desperados 3 is Isabelle. These individual skills are typically best used in tandem, such as using Hector to lay down a bear trap behind some bushes and then getting the coquettish Kate to lure them into its gaping maw. Cooper can toss coins to startle horses into kicking guards unconscious, Doc McCoy’s rifle can snipe enemies from afar, Hector’s shotgun blast can take out closely gathered troops all at once, and Kate can don a seductive disguise in order to divert an enemy’s gaze. Although it admittedly seems a little odd when these back-and-forths continue even when the characters are separated by large stretches of the map, almost as though they’ve been outfitted with walkie talkies by a time-traveling Doc Brown.Įach member of your bloodthirsty brigade has their own specific skills and tools, and much of Desperados 3 is spent hiding in bushes for several minutes at a time trying to decide exactly which combination of them is required to systematically snuff out each area full of enemies. ![]() An early mission sees two characters make a bet to see who can claim the most scalps, and then with each subsequent kill you can hear them call out their running tallies like Gimli and Legolas in Lord of the Rings, which is just one of numerous nice little touches. ![]() ![]() Their contextual banter as you make your way through each murderous mission really helps to define their individual personalities, making for an outlaw gang I was consistently happy to be at the reigns of. The plot may be more stock standard than an unmodified Winchester, but what makes the 30-hour journey of Desperados 3’s campaign so captivating is the camaraderie shared between its five playable characters. ![]()

The intruder netflix8/3/2023 ![]() This reality helps transform a potential island reverie into a bit of anticolonial payback, albeit one that does little to change the overall state of things. Hanging over the film’s entire third act is Tahiti’s lingering colonial status, to this day granted only limited autonomy as a so-called “overseas country” still partially administered by its one-time overlords. Paired with the focus on borders, this criticism is easily extended to one of the French nation as a whole. As in much of Denis’ work, masculinity is envisioned as a disruptive force, with the negative effects of such disruptions rarely failing to echo back upon the aggressor. Yet it’s hard to feel bad for him, even with indications that his heart transplant may have been botched. Here the local elders decide to set him up with a fake son and share the proceeds, once it becomes clear that the real one is nowhere to be found. Trebor is both violator and victim, an avatar of a certain brand of crusty Gallic paternalism, who nonetheless gets turned into a dupe once he reaches Tahiti. ![]() To understand the character’s place in the story is to accept that things can be one thing and another at the same time, a fluid state of existence which defines the film’s slippery method of defying the sanctity of solid borders. We know that his body is betraying him, and that his condition has worsened enough to drive him from his home, even if the situation in which he imagines himself leaving is not entirely rooted in reality. Despite his general dominance over other characters, Trebor is plagued by visions that imagine him as a victim, a persecution complex which does in fact have some credible foundation. Instead, the perceived difficulty rests in the way it defies narrative convention, refuses to establish a clear boundary between what’s real and what’s imagined, and utilizes those abstract moments as both a surrealistic undercurrent and a digressive extension of the plot itself. Here he seeks to reconnect with the illegitimate son he fathered decades before, although mostly in order to make amends by passing on more of his money.Īs these schematic transitions show, The Intruder is not seen as confusing because of its subtlety. For the last, Trebor follows in the footsteps of Gaugin, traveling by boat to Tahiti. The transition from one exchange to another is significant, as each new act in the film’s structure is marked by a definitive transaction. He does this by abruptly paying off his estranged son Sidney (Grégoire Colin), before decamping to South Korea in search of a black-market coronary transplant. In a less than subtle touch, Trebor is suffering from a life-threatening heart problem, a condition which further underscores the callous disregard he possesses for others.Īn additional sign of this emotional blockage is his ability to communicate seemingly only through the medium of hard cash. At first accompanied by his faithful dogs, he soon abandons the animals and his home, following an episode involving the (possibly imagined) killing of a border-hopping refugee, and his own mounting health issues. ![]() Louis Trebor (the recently deceased Michel Subor) is a gruff loner living a remote lifestyle in the Jura Mountains, which throughout the film’s events are cloaked in a dense layer of snow. In this sense, the main character can also be understood as the story’s central malign force, rather than its protagonist. Key to this is the distinction between artificial societal restrictions and deeper human dictates, with the idea of artificially imposed borders clashing with the demands of a more gratifying, honest form of humanism. Focused intently on the boundaries people draw around themselves, the film formulates a chimeric disquisition on the things that divide us – the self-imposed limitations and expectations cultivated by fear and ignorance – which result in their own form of emotional confinement. It’s an approach that does indeed represent the director at her most elusive and elliptical, but also one that’s far from inaccessible. These motifs drive the action, which embraces a sort of vaporous dream logic as the story jumps settings, at times fringing upon fantasy or fable. Opening at the French/Swiss border, it quickly establishes a set of key visual motifs, many of them centered around opposing-yet-entwined themes of guardianship and restriction. Often described as Claire Denis’ most inscrutable movie, The Intruder is nonetheless of a piece with her other work, structured on symbolic and imagistic lines rather than firm narrative ones. ![]()

Cheat engine gemcraft labyrinth8/3/2023 ![]() ![]() Of course, one could also argue that the Guardian and Monk subclasses are more suitable, given that the former works well with her skill set, and the latter gives her the means to attack even faster, and auto heal herself every turn as well.Įdit: I just realized something. Come to think of it, other than her somewhat low resistance to ailments(which a Status Boost Tome could help in), and her low affinity to cold and mystic(which can be fixed via Voile), Momiji doesn't have any glaring flaws, does she? This could make her perfect for the Strategist or Pharmacologist subclasses, since her sturdiness would be helpful for the former(being able to grant a defensive and offensive boost to everyone would be quite helpful, not to mention that her Speed buff will be strengthened by the sheer point of the reduction of its decay), while her speed would be helpful towards the latter(the skill set for said subclass weakens ailments and debuffs on allies every time she takes a turn). This is the power of the "Team 9" group skill.Īs a aside, I had always thought that her accuracy increasing skill worked well with said defensive nature, making her prefect for helping others to not miss and to hit harder just by being there. ![]() Most (all?) other tweaks were minor.Īllow me to do the math based on the wiki. Shikieiki did get a high DEF boost, and Meiling got a significant ATK boost. Kogasa, Rumia, Cirno, Minoriko and Parsee were the other who benefited the most, even though all Parsee got was a MND tweak- in that her already ridiculous mnd got even higher. You need to be to compete with the gimmicks the other guys get, of course, but daaang. A lot of people comment that it seems kind of worthless, and I haven't heard anyone's opinion on Youmu later in the game.Į:Daaang they buffed Momiji's stats all by so much in the 1.20x rebalance. so I wonder if Youmu's nukes also scale a lot better than they seem when you first get her. In other news again, early in the game her nuke didn't seem particularly good. In other news, seriously, if you were going to banlist anyone, banlist Nitori, as you pick up better and better gear she just gets stupid good. OR, you can do what I did, and use Nitori and Flandre to just brute force through, which works because Nitori is OP and never has to be switched out ever even in full ATK builds with her crazy nuke potential, and it's weak to DRK so Flan works wonders. However, you've got to figure out how you're damaging it through it's DEF/MND you can debuff it off with ArmTwisting or Hina/Reisen or at least using "Eyes That Perceive Reality" characters, or you could use straight off def/mnd ignoring characters. So long as you've actually spent your money in the Library and not stockpiled 1m+, the challenge level should be fine in terms of surviving everything except perhaps the final phase. I think having a counter for these bosses of some form in your party is really important, and thankfully there's a good variety of choices for that. That's more my fault though I guess? As for the "overlevel and power through with Nitori/Flan/etc sheer numbers" option, it's there, but I was more or less immune to all of the boss's attacks WAAAAY before I managed to start hurting it, so obviously it wasn't the intended solution. I wonder if PSN even does alright damage still in postgame?)īut my team actually doesn't carry any of those, I didn't have -anything- until I got Rumia recently, who sure is important in randoms now. (It's so much harder to use Wriggle in this game. Some of these bosses might be vulnerable to PSN, although I think a lot of them do resist it. ![]() There's now a large array of characters that can ignore a significant amount of def or mnd (even Iku!), and Monk has an option that can sometimes get the job done. You have armtwisting to combine with debuffs to debuff even highly resistant bosses without too much issue, or using Reisen and/or Hina to similar effects. It's because you actually do have a lot of ways to deal with it. I think I understand why boss def/mnd is so high in many cases well first of all it's because they ended up giving the player several too-strong options that let you utterly demolish bosses that don't either have extreme HP or extreme defenses when you put the strongest characters in gambler builds. ![]()

Netmap from mac8/3/2023 ![]() If it can't be done by an automated process, then it requires, make config scripts, or tinkering with the driver code itself?īut I can tell you that you are wasting your time there within the netmap source code tree. That's where the changes have to be made to convert over to said in Porting BGE Driver to said in Porting BGE Driver to IFLIB.: The problems you are experiencing with slow speeds are within the NIC drivers themselves and their corresponding C source code. But I can tell you that you are wasting your time there within the netmap source code tree. Specifically it is complaining about the syntax, but I suspect the compiler is getting confused by some missing macro definitions or else missing include files. The particular error you are hitting during the compilation of pkt-gen is likely due to a problem with include files and macro definitions in your FreeBSD environment. It bridges a traffic stream between two interfaces, or an interface and the host stack, using netmap. If you want a sample app that more closely mimics the inline mode of the IDS/IPS packages, you want to use the bridge sample application found in the same directory tree as pkt-gen. This is not a trivial task, and is certainly not something an automated process is likely to accomplish for any driver. To actually convert a driver to use iflib, you will need to locate the driver's C source code in the FreeBSD source tree and make required changes there to replace certain routines with their iflib equivalents. The interface parameter you provide on the command line is just to tell the utility which interface to send the packet stream out on. It just generates a packet stream for transmission using netmap. The pkt-gen program is just a demonstation utility (or think sample application) provided for netmap developers to test with. There is no "conversion of a driver to iflib" possible by simply compiling and running pkt-gen. The instructions you are following make no sense. I tried will lower case "i" also.ĭo you know what's said in Porting BGE Driver to said in Porting BGE Driver to IFLIB.: I reached steps 6 and I have an issue, the commad pkt-gen -I ix0 -f rx or pkt-gen -I ixgbe0 -f rx will just print a list of pkt-gen commands. Hello I tried to use your tutorial, for ixgbe driver. Run Gmake, which converts the driver and launch cc to compile it: $ gmake.Run pkt-gen on NIC driver, example, in my case it is the Broadcom driver bge: #pkt-gen -I bge0 -f rx.Go to the Netmap tool: $ cd /netmap/apps/pkt-gen.Install these packages: Git, Gmake, and Gcc or Clang…note, if you install FreeBSD with SCR Tree, all those would already installed.Install FreeBSD (11 or 12) on a virtual machine. Also, please note that I did not need to do this as I took another option as stated here: said in Porting BGE Driver to IFLIB.: Please note in the above step 7, you will be copying the file from your FreeBSD VM, so you may need a jump drive to transport. Your NIC driver would now be supported by Netmap so you can use Suricata and soon Snort in inline mode. copy the file and place in your pfSense production box: /usr/local/bin - $ sudo cp pkt-gen /usr/local/bin Run Gmake, which converts the driver and launch cc to compile it: $ gmakeħ. Install these packages: Git, Gmake, and Gcc or Clang…note, if you install FreeBSD with SCR Tree, all those would already installed.Ĥ. Install FreeBSD (11 or 12) on a virtual machine.Ģ. That’s when the Netmap developer pointed out that he had provided tools to enable any driver to port to the IFLib, which supports Netmap…see man page: The first suggestion was for me to look at how the vmx(4) was ported to the IFLib: That quickly became extremely overwhelming to say the least. Just another update to this thread to share what I had learned. So, I have access to the BGE source code.how to start? I spoke here of a plan here:() however, I am sure others could use the BGE driver as well. Also, the BGE driver 1000mb is not in version 12. FreeBSD is removing or has removed several old drivers (10/100mb) or limited used drivers from version 12. ![]() ![]() Of course that immediately appeared overwhelming. That led me to look at how the VMware driver was ported here: So, I contacted both the Netmap creator as well as the BGE driver creator (he hasn't looked at it for over 15yrs) and shared my intention. ![]() I have been wanting to use Suricata, and soon Snort inline mode with Netmap but the BGE driver isn't supported. Blood bowl 3 rules8/3/2023 ![]() ![]() I imagine we'll see fewer passes, but teams who can invest in a decent thrower have the potential to get scary. So passing as not-a-passer just got a lot harder. Yes, this means you could potentially attempt a pass and throw the ball back towards your own end zone 7 spaces. However, there's also a new, terrifying failure case for passing: Any pass that results in a 1 or lower after modification (Natural 1 is ALWAYS a fumble) results in a pass that is "Wildly Inaccurate." WA passes scatter 1d6 spaces in a random direction. In several cases that means the team got better or *much* better at passing: Case in point being the humans, whose thrower is still AG3+ but now passes on a 2+. Passing has been changed in *several* ways, not least of which being that it was decoupled from agility and made its own stat, so that just because a player is agile does not mean they will be able to throw well. (Note that even a successful Argue The Call results in a turnover, however, so fouling will still generally be an end-of-turn action.) Add that to the lack of Clawpomb, and the occasional chance to successfully argue the call (1d6 on a send-off, 6+ for the sent-off player to stay in the game, anything else and you can't try to argue any other calls for the rest of the match) to keep your fouler in, AND the fact that Guard now assists on fouls, and that all equals more, and more effective, fouling. As in, they foul and keep moving to reposition. In addition, Sneaky Gits can foul **AS PART OF A MOVE**. In 2020, Sneaky Git now prevents you from being sent off on doubles on ANY armor roll, even if you break armor. In the old rules, SG would prevent you from being sent off on doubles on an armor roll *only if you failed to break armor*. Sneaky Git now does what everyone *imagined* the skill to do. Speaking of fouls, you're probably going to see more of them. And you still only get one foul per turn, so you can only Piledriver (the skill's new name) once per turn. Also Piling On has been completely reworked: It's no longer a reroll of your armor/cas roll, but is instead a **foul** after a knockdown. Claw is no longer modified by Mighty Blow you'll still see players take it, however, as MB will still affect the injury roll and, to be fair, that's the "ideal" claw+MB situation wherein the MB isn't necessary for the break, and gets used on the injury. ![]() (As an aside, I think the skill is broken now as a strength skill it's clearly meant to be helpful for high strength, low agility players to be able to dodge, but it's actually most useful on stunties who can get ahold it to make 2+ dodges into any space on the pitch.) Clawpomb has been nerfed pretty hard. Lots of skill changes as a lizard player your biggest note should be that Break Tackle now simply modifies the roll for dodging, rather than substituting your strength: +1 to dodges if your ST if 4 or lower, +2 if it is 5+.
